Discovery

This is a favourite amongst a lot of our blind tasters, it's an easy drinking, refreshing and light roasted coffee inspired by the famous (and famously expensive) Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee.

Discovery has a clean, almost sweet herbal and nutty profile. It has a bright aroma, almost fruity and lacks any bitterness to appear almost creamy.
It'd great for enjoying as an espresso, filter or in one of our pods.

Great for sharing and a go to coffee to enjoy all day, even in cold brew or ice coffee. A great coffee if you're trying to cut back the sugar intake too as it has no acidity to balance.

When we set out to emulate the famous flavour we had 3 things in mind:

1. Quality
2. Flavour
3. Price

Quality and Flavour go without saying, you don't live and breathe coffee like we do without being concerned about these factors but cost is a big factor with this particular coffee.
The real 'Blue' costs a premium, understandably and there isn't an unlimited supply. What we wanted to do was deliver a cup of coffee with a similar flavour profile but without that premium price tag.

So Discovery was born.

Discovery is named, like most of our signature blends, after the Enlightenment Period of European… and largely British history.
Coffee was a unifying, stimulating and inspiring factor in one of our greatest historical periods of history and we feel that coffee still has a place in our society for these reasons.

Coffee houses brought men of varying means together, from different skills and areas of study to discuss their thoughts and failures. It allowed advances in science, engineering and philosophy amongst others.

We celebrate these people and the inspiration they had together over coffee, so we invite you to make your own discoveries from the inspiration in your cup and why not share a pot with friends and have some of those 'deep and meaningfuls' that allow us to expand beyond our current reach?

Inspirational stuff. Discover Discovery today.

Renaissance

This Renaissance blend brings together a wide range of flavour profiles and balances them perfectly in a medium roast.

Bringing together several African coffees with a well rounded and balanced profile held together with an almost chocolatey character this coffee blend can be enjoyed all day, this is a real favourite amongst our blind tasters.

The Renaissance is a period of history when old thinking was re-examined and given fresh insight. The philosophy of the ancient greeks for example was given renewed importance and studied with a view to taking those thoughts a step further, reimagined (like Disney and all their classics) and made new.

We hope that by giving coffee a second look, the way that we consume it and the ways we can enjoy it in a more eco friendly and responsible way is like a mini Renaissance… giving this coffee blend its name. We hope it will bring people together, inspire and motivate people while giving enjoyment in every sip.

During the Enlightenment, coffee houses brought men of varying means together, from different skills and areas of study to discuss their thoughts and failures. It allowed advances in science, engineering and philosophy amongst others. The Renaissance is a similar movement at a similar time.

We celebrate these people and the inspiration they had together over coffee, so we invite you to make your own discoveries from the inspiration in your cup and why not share a pot with friends and have some of those 'deep and meaningfuls' that allow us to expand beyond our current reach?

Inspirational stuff. Why not discover the Renaissance today?

Prospero

If you love strong, dark, great smelling and complex flavoured coffee this is for you!

Prospero is not for everyone, it's a powerful blend and deep and dark and bold.
As soon as you open the bag you'll know what we mean. You won't find Prospero on a coffee shop menu, it's just TOO BOLD!

This coffee is rich, unctuous and perfectly balanced. Wether it's first thing in the morning and you want to wake up or the afternoon and need to satisfy that itch for that dark sensuous flavour this is your blend.
Great for sharing with a like minded friend, perfect as espresso if you're brave enough and cuts perfectly through sweet frothy milk for the perfect cafe latte or cappuccino.

Prospero is named, like most of our signature blends, after the Enlightenment Period of European… and largely British history.
Coffee was a unifying, stimulating and inspiring factor in one of our greatest historical periods of history and we feel that coffee still has a place in our society for these reasons.

History celebrates Prospero Alpini, an Italian man as the person responsible for first introducing Europe to coffee where it was treated with suspicion and considered evil by many as it came from the Muslim world and not the areas of Catholicism which Europeans trusted in the 1500's.
It fell to the Pope Clement to try it and declare it safe and non-evil!

This opened the doors to France, Britain and beyond where it aided The Enlightenment and The Renaissance, bringing change and advances with it.

Caffeine Deficiency

This coffee is decaffeinated using the Mountain Water technique which is widely considered the best way to extract the caffeine while keeping as much flavour as possible.

These beans are sourced from our friends, experts in this process, from Mexico. There the coffee is steamed and washed to remove the caffeine and some of the flavour… but then the water is extracted in a way that allows the flavour to stay in the beans keeping its distinct full flavour.

The process is safe and chemical free, the water is reused after being passed through an activated charcoal filter so its also environmentally responsible and kind to the area.

As you can imagine this is an expensive process, yet by working closely with our friends we can keep the price almost the same as our caffeinated blends.

Wether you are caffeine sensitive, want to enjoy coffee into the evening or to balance your diet this coffee is so full flavoured that you may have to check the bag a few times to check it's the decaf that you've brewed!

This coffee is great for everyone, but we understand that menopause can be frustrating when chemical changes mean that caffeine is no longer a stimulant but instead an irritant and you long for the taste of a great coffee. This is your brew.

This delicious blend is great as an espresso, filter or perfectly brewed in one of our stainless steel pods. Share with friends and know that introducing children to coffee is free of the caffeine. Brilliant in a cold brew or iced coffee too

The Goat

Our absolute favourite coffee. Tasty, rich, velvety and strong- this coffee has it all! It really is the G.O.A.T.

The Goat is named, like most of our signature blends, after the folklore surrounding how coffee was discovered. Some say it was a goat herder named Kaldi who watched with amusement how his goats would act excitedly after feeding on the berries of a particular type of tree in the area and then he tried some for himself and shared his discovery with the local elders in his Ethiopian village.
Wether this is true or not remains to be seen, but we love a story and a bit of folklore to share over an espresso with friends!

The fact that it was a goat who is said to have been the first to discover the joys of coffee and that goat in modern use is Greatest Of All Time means we had to name this coffee after The Goat!

Donkey Kick

We considered a few names when conceiving this blend.

Here are a few of the ones we considered:
1. Widow Maker
2. Health Warning
3. Constipation Cure
4. Are You Mental?
5. Danger Sign

We settled on Donkey Kick after our founders Mum, who is sensitive to caffeine, tried some and described the sensation as being like when she was kicked by a Donkey.

This is a very caffeinated blend, the strongest we can make in fact and we don't sell it lightly. To be responsible we only sell Donkey Kick in 250G pouches.

At the risk of overhyping this coffee like a certain YouTube inspired highly caffeinated drink, this is strong stuff!

Now, while most people will want a coffee to relax or sharpen their focus, we are aware that there are night shift workers, long distance drivers, students busy cramming (we've been there) and lots of other people that need a strong hit to keep them going. This is for you guys.

The biggest beneficiaries to this brew tho are gym goers or those working out hard. It's been shown in studies that caffeine *could* keep you focussed, increase your stamina and keep you satiated longer meaning you don't need to keep stopping to snack!

Robusta is another coffee variety that gets a bad rep, largely to keep the Arabica crop prices high as far as we can see- because when roasted with care this bean can be balanced and light- which is exactly how we roast it. Blended with other arabica coffee (as most high street coffee is) it can be great and keep its caffeine packed punch!

So, you've been warned. Call it what ever you like, once tried you will know what we mean. Please drink this coffee responsibly.

PS, if you are a member of our emergency services and work overnights and need some of this black stuff to keep you going… drop us an email with an ID card or proof of your employment in the services and we'll share our blue light discount code with you. 👏

Discovery

How strong is this coffee?
Discovery is a MILD coffee, it has a mellow, light flavour modelled on the very expensive Blue Mountain coffee from Jamaica.

This is a mid-strength caffeine blend with no robusta, so less of the kick
What is the roast type?
The roast type of Discovery is a LIGHT roast, keeping some of the acidity present in the fresh beans yet preventing the darker roasted bitterness.
What do I need to make this coffee?
Our coffees can be delivered as beans or in a variety of grind types.
If you have a pod machine make sure you've also purchased one of our stainless steel reusable pods for your machine and order your coffee bag ground to pod size.

We also grind to French Press size if you have one of those.
If you like filter coffee we grind to this size and also sell compostable coffee bags and stainless steel filter sets.

You can't get much fresher than that, and flavour is lost over time- so the more fresh, the more of that lovely flavour!
What is Paper or Plastic packaging?
