Coffee pod machines are brilliantly convenient, simple and efficient to use. We love that you only heat the water you need and that they waste very little energy… however there is a huge problem globally with the waste these little convenient and quick machines have with waste.
If you're one of the people that takes the time to send off your old pods or empties them to put them out you're a great person, but definitely in the minority.
There are estimates about how many pods make it into landfill every year which is absolutely staggering and when you consider that the pods are second only to glass in terms of how long decay takes then you can start to see the thing we're wanting to address and tackle.
The thing is, our pods make better coffee in our opinion… because the coffee you get out is only as good as the coffee you put in to it.
The pod companies over roast the coffee in their pods to make sure that it is rich and black and strong smelling when it comes out of the machine. This doesn't mean it's fresh. Strong flavour doesn't mean strong with caffeine either… the opposite in fact. The darker your coffee is roasted the longer to 'cook out' the caffeine like you would with alcohol when adding it to a sauce for example.

The used coffee grounds go in the food bin, your compost bin or flower pots (slugs don't like it!) and the pod gets a quick rinse and is then used over and over and over (and over x 3000) again…
We also have a HUGE range of coffees, we've only released the tip of the iceberg while we develop this site and the infrastructure to make sure you get what you order in a timely way and that our systems can cope… but more importantly we know exactly how much the coffee should be ground to get the best flavour, the best texture and crema and the most out of your bag of coffee.
Most people (that's what the experts say) bin their pod out of convenience and a 2 minute coffee brew becomes 500 years in the ground. Our system means that the pod is used almost indefinitely and every time you buy a bag of our coffee to refill it a tree is planted in your honour- no opt in or extras!
So we want to avoid the waste and replace it with trees.
