Prospero

Our DARKEST, most sumptuous blend! Roasted in the Italian style, the beans are almost oily as they ooze with deliciousness

A mix of Central and South American Arabica beans, roasted at a high temperature for its distinctive, unforgettable flavour
If you love strong, dark, great smelling and complex flavoured coffee this is for you!

Prospero is not for everyone, it's a powerful blend and deep and dark and bold.
As soon as you open the bag you'll know what we mean. You won't find Prospero on a coffee shop menu, it's just TOO BOLD!

This coffee is rich, unctuous and perfectly balanced. Wether it's first thing in the morning and you want to wake up or the afternoon and need to satisfy that itch for that dark sensuous flavour this is your blend.
Great for sharing with a like minded friend, perfect as espresso if you're brave enough and cuts perfectly through sweet frothy milk for the perfect cafe latte or cappuccino.

Prospero is named, like most of our signature blends, after the Enlightenment Period of European… and largely British history.
Coffee was a unifying, stimulating and inspiring factor in one of our greatest historical periods of history and we feel that coffee still has a place in our society for these reasons.

History celebrates Prospero Alpini, an Italian man as the person responsible for first introducing Europe to coffee where it was treated with suspicion and considered evil by many as it came from the Muslim world and not the areas of Catholicism which Europeans trusted in the 1500's.
It fell to the Pope Clement to try it and declare it safe and non-evil!

This opened the doors to France, Britain and beyond where it aided The Enlightenment and The Renaissance, bringing change and advances with it.

Coffee houses brought men of varying means together, from different skills and areas of study to discuss their thoughts and failures. It allowed advances in science, engineering and philosophy amongst others.

We celebrate these people and the inspiration they had together over coffee, so we invite you to make your own discoveries from the inspiration in your cup and why not share a pot with friends and have some of those 'deep and meaningfuls' that allow us to expand beyond our current reach?

Inspirational stuff. Why not enjoy Prospero's discovery today?

What our customers say

This is powerful stuff! Love it!
RePodly Blind taster
...the darkest coffee I've ever tried. It smells great and woke me up before I even brewed it, but it's not bitter or burnt like you might expect

Prospero

How strong is this coffee?
Prospero is the strongest flavoured coffee we roast, dare you try it!

If coffee flavour is given a rating out of 5, this blend is a 6… and we LOVE it!

What is the roast type?
This is a VERY Dark Roast coffee, the darkest we roast in fact!
Giving this coffee a rich, bold flavour you won't find anywhere else
What do I need to make this coffee?
Our coffees can be delivered as beans or in a variety of grind types.
If you have a pod machine make sure you've also purchased one of our stainless steel reusable pods for your machine and order your coffee bag ground to pod size.

We also grind to French Press size if you have one of those.
If you like filter coffee we grind to this size and also sell compostable coffee bags and stainless steel filter sets.
What makes this coffee special?
What makes our coffee stand out is its freshness, its quality and its flavour.

Your coffee, whichever blend or grind you choose will be roasted to order here in the UK and usually delivered to you within 48 hours of it being roasted for you.
You can't get much fresher than that, and flavour is lost over time- so the more fresh, the more of that lovely flavour!
What is Paper or Plastic packaging?
Our freshly roasted coffee can either be delivered to you in a resealable, reusable plastic bag or in a paper bag which can be recycled.

If you choose to go paper please make sure you have a suitable container or bag to put the coffee into as soon as you receive it to preserve the freshness and flavour.
How does postage work?
We have 2 options for delivery.
1. Royal Mail 48 hours untracked
This is for orders up to 2KG in weight and costs £4

2. DPD courier delivery. This costs £7.50 for up to 28KG

In most cases Royal Mail is brilliant, but we all see the news in the build up to Christmas- if you feel your delivery is urgent or may be affected and you wish to upgrade to DPD on your order we can arrange this if you contact us ASAP, preferably before placing your order
I'm buying for business, do I get a discount?
If you're likely to be ordering over 5KG a week we can discuss this if you contact us via email.

If you have a public facing business or coffee shop we could also provide you with branded coffee bags which customers love!
Why is there a tree on the label?
The tree is there as a reminder that your purchase also planted a tree!
This is done entirely by us in your honour and you don't need to do anything at all to make it happen- no opting in, extra details or gift aid forms. You did a good thing just by drinking coffee!

We promise to plant a tree for every bag sold
